42. Uganda’s Enigmatic Giants
As the rose gold solar peeked more than the encompassing hills in 2017, we descended into the shadowy depths of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. We trekked across a hollow jungle ground laden with layers of rain-soaked leaves and ducked beneath twisted, lower-hanging branches. Immediately after about two hrs of mountaineering by means of the dense, environmentally friendly forest, my eyes landed upon what I experienced been anxiously anticipating: a mighty silverback. The statuesque gorilla stood majestically on the path, his silver-tinted fur catching the early morning sunshine, though he casually consumed handfuls of leaves. I was mesmerised by the natural beauty. And then, as if on cue, the bushes guiding me started to rustle and a second silverback leapt from the trees. Similarly terrified and exhilarated, I darted out of the way and viewed as the two silverbacks beat their chests, a exhibit of masculine dominance that capped this unforgettable come across.
